CommonGround RP is a community first. We came from SADOJRP and FiveM roleplay, but the people here now span different games, backgrounds, ages, experiences, and interests. These guidelines exist to keep CommonGround welcoming, fair, useful, and fun without trying to turn every disagreement into a rulebook problem.
1Treat people like people
Be respectful even when you disagree. Debate ideas, gameplay, rules, and decisions without turning the disagreement into personal attacks. Repeated hostility, baiting, dogpiling, humiliation, or behavior intended to make someone feel unwelcome does not belong here.
2Hate and targeted harassment are not welcome
Slurs, dehumanizing language, threats, targeted harassment, or attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or another personal characteristic are not acceptable. "It was a joke" does not excuse behavior that is clearly being used to target or demean someone.
3Keep roleplay and real life separate
Characters can disagree, fail, argue, or become rivals. That does not give anyone permission to carry in-character conflict into personal harassment. Likewise, do not use information learned outside a roleplay setting to gain an unfair in-character advantage when the rules of that game or server prohibit it.
4Play fairly
Do not cheat, exploit bugs for an unfair advantage, evade bans, intentionally disrupt events, grief other members, or encourage others to do so. If you find an exploit or serious problem, report it privately rather than teaching everyone how to abuse it.
5Respect privacy and personal boundaries
Do not post someone else's private information, private messages, real-world identity, location, photos, account details, or other personal information without permission. Never threaten to expose someone. If a member asks you to stop contacting them, respect that boundary unless staff involvement is necessary.
6Keep content appropriate for the community
Do not post pornography, graphic sexual content, gore for shock value, illegal material, malware, phishing links, or content whose main purpose is to disturb or endanger others. Mature conversations can happen when they are relevant and handled responsibly, but CommonGround is not a place for explicit adult content.
7Use the right space for the conversation
Forums are best for longer discussions, guides, questions, and topics worth keeping. Community Boards are better for quick updates, screenshots, clips, milestones, and social conversation. Support is for private help. Keeping things in the right place makes the community easier for everyone to use.
8Do not spam or self-promote at everyone else's expense
Repeated advertisements, referral links, mass mentions, unsolicited direct messages, duplicate posts, or flooding the same content across the site are not allowed. Sharing your stream, project, server, art, or community work is fine where it is relevant and permitted; treating CommonGround only as an audience is not.
9Be honest about who you are on the platform
Do not impersonate another member, staff member, organization, or community. Alternate accounts may not be used to evade moderation, manipulate reactions or praise, mislead people, or create the appearance of support from multiple members.
10Praise should mean something
Praise Your Peers exists to recognize real contributions, good sportsmanship, helpfulness, leadership, creativity, and community spirit. Do not trade praise, manufacture recognition through alternate accounts, or use praise posts sarcastically to attack someone.
11Handle disagreements constructively
Not every bad interaction is a moderation case. When it is safe and reasonable, give people room to clarify misunderstandings and move on. When a problem is serious, repeated, personal, or unsafe, use the report or support tools instead of starting a public campaign against another member.
12Staff decisions should be fair and explainable
Staff are expected to apply these guidelines consistently, avoid conflicts of interest, and use the least severe action that reasonably protects the community. Depending on the situation, that may mean a reminder, content removal, warning, temporary restriction, suspension, or permanent removal. Severe conduct does not require a progression through every possible step.
13Appeals and good-faith questions are allowed
If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, use Support to ask for a review. Explain what happened and why you believe the decision should change. Harassing staff, repeatedly reopening the same settled issue, or recruiting others to pressure staff is not an appeal.
14Use good judgment
No written list can predict every situation. Attempts to exploit technicalities or claim that obviously harmful behavior is allowed because it is not named word-for-word will not work. The standard is simple: participate in a way that helps make CommonGround a place people want to return to.
If you are unsure whether something belongs here, ask a staff member before posting it. If you believe someone is in immediate real-world danger, contact the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on a community website.
